What is the best industrial 3D printer?

There are a few prominent manufacturers out there and by far Stratasys and 3D Systems from the USA are the ones most people hear of in industry. There are a few other ones out there such as Concept Laser, Reinishaw (UK) who both focus on metal 3D printing.

The “best” industrial 3D printer cannot be determined because there are so many different types of printers out there in industry and each serves a different purpose and application.

Can 3D printing be used for mass production?

3D printing can be used for the lower end of mass production but there is evidence that the economies of scale fall off at between 500 to 1000 units no matter what technology is used.
